Imphal, July 22 2014:
The State Government has been closely watching the situation after a Manipuri youth was killed at Delhi by some 5/6 persons in the wee hours of July 21, stated Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Gaikhangam on the floor of the House during zero hour today.
MLA Karam Shyam remarked that Manipuri students have been literally abandoned to be attacked and killed without any protective mechanism.
Manipuri students have all the rights to live or stay in Delhi, Shyam said while suggesting the House to depute some of the Members to go to Delhi and enquire about the murder.
Human life is not something which can be sold or purchased.
MLA Ibohalbi too suggested deputation of a team of MLAs including at least one Cabinet Minister to go to Delhi and enquire into the shocking murder case.
Responding to the suggestion, Gaikhangam maintained that the State Government has been keeping a close watch on the steps taken up Delhi Government in connection with the murder of Shaloni Akha from Tungjoy village, Senapati district.
Delhi Police have already initiated necessary actions promptly and there is no sign of delinquency.
Even the Home Minister went to the spot and enquired into the shocking incident.
If necessary, some of the Members may be deputed for spot enquiry, Gaikhangam added.
