'Healthy' patients among 10 fatalities; six died within 24 hours of hospitalisation

Imphal, June 22 2021: The state continues to record high positivity rate as Tuesday reported 575 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 4791 samples tested, thus showing a positivity rate of 12 per cent.

On the other hand, the state also reported high number of death cases among young patients with no co-morbid conditions.

Not willing to undergo early testing seems to be a major cause of concern in the state as many of the victims died within 24 hours of arriving at hospitals.

Meanwhile, with the addition of 575 new cases and 649 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, the active caseload has come down to 9214 on Tuesday out of which 2521 are in home isolation and 5098 in CHICs.

There are 701 patients in Covid hospitals which include district hospitals and some CHCs.

Out of them, 309 patients including 35 post-Covid patients are on oxygen support and 44 patients are on ventilator support.

However, the figure does not include data from JNIMS and I-land hospitals.

On the other hand, 894 patients are undergoing treatment in CCCs with 82 on oxygen support.

So far, the state has recorded 36,805 positive cases and 710 death cases in the current year.

The last seven days saw addition of 3897 new cases and 67 fatalities while 14,242 new cases and 258 fatalities were added in the current month.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths (6 males & 4 females) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (3), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

Three patients died at RIMS, two each at JNIMS & Raj Medicity, and one each at Shija Hospitals, DH Churachandpur and SDH Moreh.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1065 .

Six of the victims were in the age group of 31 to 40 years.

One patient died within eight hours of reaching hospital, five within 24 hours and one within 72 hours.

Out of the 10 victims, 8 did not have any co-morbid conditions.

According to official reports, the 575 new cases included 571 people (279 male & 292 female) from among the general population and 4 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (47), JNIMS (25), District Hospitals (338) and other testing centres (165) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (100), Imphal West (224), Thoubal (67), Bishnupur (28), Kakching (43), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (30), Chandel (21), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (8), Tengnoupal (7), Jiribam (16), Kangpokpi (9), Kamjong (2), Pherzawl (2) and Noney (1) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The 649 patients discharged in the last 24 hours included 335 from home isolation, 5 from RIMS, 5 from JNIMS, 170 from CCCs and 134 from CHICs.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 64,993 (general population - 61,187 and CAPF personnel - 3,806) .

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 54,714 (general population - 50,953 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 9,214 (general population - 9,174 and CAPF personnel - 40) .

The recovery rate is 84.18 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1740 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 337 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District Hospitals and government institutions have 456D and 104B filled cylinders while the district/sub-division wise stock distribution figure in the last 24 hours is Bishnupur (113D,7B), Chandel (28D,9B), Churachand pur (87D,0B), Senapati (48D,0B), Thoubal (65D,33B), Ukhrul (34D,15B), Tamenglong (8D,1B), Jiribam (33D,12B), Moreh (19D,8B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (4D,0B), Kakching (6D,16B), Noney (2D,0B), Pherzawl (6D,2B) and in CCCs (341D, 99B) .

As of Monday, 5,00,408 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with 82,419 completing both doses.

Meanwhile, 49 new positive cases have been detected out of 324 samples tested in Kakching district on Tuesday.

Four cases were detected at Ema Hospital, five at Jivan Hospital and 40 at government RAT Centre.

All are residents of Kakching district.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (22,913), Imphal East (14,652), Thoubal (5279), Churachandpur (5043), Kangpokpi (1647), Tamenglong (2072), Bishnupur (3921), Senapati (1365), Ukhrul (1375), Kakching (3129), Chandel (1109), Noney (552), Tengnoupal (674), Jiribam (725), Kamjong (433), and Pherzawl (104) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (390), Imphal East (278), Thoubal (100), Churachandpur (84), Kangpokpi (27), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (75), Senapati (5), Ukhrul (15), Kakching (56), Chandel (14), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (5), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 20,945 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,536 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,78,510 tests per million population against the national average of 2,82,862 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.64 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 4791 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.52 per cent.
