DESAM soon to lift ban on private B Ed colleges

The Democratic Students Alliance, Manipur (DESAM) on Wednesday said the ban on private B.Ed colleges will soon be revoked.
DESAM had banned admission procedures in all private owned B.Ed colleges in the State to ensure that the guidelines set by National Council for Teacher Education Regulation 2014 are followed at the colleges, DESAM secretary general Nameirakpam Edison said in a press meet held at the alliance office at Keishampat today.
"We are done with the inspection of the colleges," he said adding that 9 of such private colleges in the State have assured that the NTCE regulations will be followed properly.
The colleges also arrived on a tentative agreement with the student body on introduction of school internship framework; constitution of Curriculum Committee comprising of members from Manipur University and Colleges; MU, College Development Committee (CDC) will visit the colleges from time to time to check proper implementation of NTCE regulations; introduction of a professional code book for B.Ed trainees by May 1, 2017; solve all academic related issues to improve the academic system and come up with a new syllabus by May 1, 2017 .
A joint meeting of DESAM, Manipur University authorities and College Development Committee (CDC) will be conducted on June 28 regarding the issue.
As such, the ban imposed on private B.Ed colleges by the student body have been lifted till June 28.The ban will however be clamped again if amicable solutions are not brought in the meeting, he added.
