Bomb blasts at Napet Palli under Lamlai

Imphal, August 21 2012:
Two powerful bombs exploded successively at Napet Palli under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district last night.
A police source said that the bombs were planted under a culvert along Napet Palli road, near a foothill.
However, there was no report of any human casualty.
The impact of the blasts left a crater about three feet in diameter.
It is reported that blast site was close to the office of an NGO namely Educated Farmers' Association.
Ahead of the blast, some unidentified persons opened two rounds of shot at the office at about 10.30 pm.
Though the bullets hit walls of the room occupied by chowkidar, no one was hurt.
The NGO was set up by one N Indrakumar (35) of Heingang Awang Leikai.
It is reported that an armed outfit had served a monetary demand of Rs 10 lakhs to the NGO on August 14 .
Meanwhile local people of Napet Palli staged a protest demonstration denouncing the acts of opening fire and triggering bomb blasts in civilian areas.
