Arms missing case : NIA formally arrests five

National Investigation Agency (NIA) formally arrested five individuals in connection with the missing arms case from 2nd Manipur Rifles Arms Kote and took them into five days custody remand for necessary interrogation.
According to a reliable source, a team of NIA produced five persons who are allegedly involved in the missing arms before the NIA Special Court today.
It informed that seven accused who are presently lodged in Sajiwa Central Jail persons in connection with the case, were taken into custody by NIA after taking necessary permission from the Court yesterday.
Among the five individuals who were remanded into NIA custody today, four are stated to be in judicial custody while one of them is reported to be out on bail.
The formally arrested individuals were produced before the NIA Special Court at Lamphel Court complex today along with a prayer for further NIA remand of the five individuals for custodial interrogation.
The Court after going through the NIA prayer remanded them to five days in NIA custody.
The source explained that on June 2, NIA started investigation into the case of 56 small arms which went missing from the Arms Kote of 2nd Manipur Rifles and NIA Guwahati submitted an FIR to the Special Court NIA Manipur on the same day.
The FIR mentioned the names of 2nd MR Havildar NP Damodaran (59) s/o (L) Podiyan of Ommliur Village, Pathanam district, Kerala and Riflemen Narayan Chhetry (44) s/o Man Bahadur Chhetry of Bhimpokara ward number 6, Nepal.
It may be mentioned that after a written complaint was lodged by Commandant P Manjit, CO, 2nd Manipur Rifles before Imphal PS stating that 56 small arms had gone missing from the Arms Kote of 2nd Manipur Rifle, NP Damodaran and Narayan Chhetry were arrested by a team of Imphal PS .
Five other individuals were also pulled up in connection with the case and all seven of them were sent to judicial custody remand from mid April.
The other accused individuals of the case are identified as M Hiranjoy alias Ngoubi (34) s/o Haridas of Tera Sapam Leirak, Paonam Shantikumar (50) s/o (L) Shamu Singh Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi Ningthoujam Leikai, Ngamboi Haokip alias Raju (38) s/o (L) Dongmang Haokip of Loiboi Khonou, Waroiching, Haobam Brojendro (39) s/o H Tombi of Kwakeithel Nganapithong and Laishram Damudor alias Thembung (27) s/o (L) Jatra of Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi.
