Eminent artiste Poujairung Thaimei tries to bring peace and harmony through his writings

Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee Poujairung Thaimei has been trying to bring peace and harmony in the state through his writings.
Poujairung Thaimei was born in 1941 at Keishamthong Kabui Khul.
He is the 2nd son of two siblings of Late Laminglung Thaimei and Late Maruchunglu Kamei.
He studied at Keishamthong LP School upto class II, from class III to X he studied at CC Hr Sec School and he completed college at DM College.
He passed out BA, Economics Hons, in 1961 .
After graduation he served as an Extension Officer of the Panchayat office and retired from service on 31-3-1999 as BDO.
Poujairung Thaimei started painting and writing dramas, songs, short stories from his childhood.
Till now he has written more than 100 songs including patriotic, romantic, traditional and dramatic songs.
He has also written dramas.
'Luchem' contains 47 poems written by him.
This book was published in 1997 .
'Luthan' which contains modern songs was published in 1984.Some of his dramas are Jeinu Duipang published in 1966, Kashok Pong published in 1980 and Dolly published in 1996 .
Some of his dramas which were staged are Tingkao Sammei Loi Na Keidatmei at MDU Hall in 1956, Kapuning at MDU in 1958, Lentong at MDU in 1960, Karaona at MDU in 1961, Guirenmei at MDU in 1962, Mukamei Latlen at MDU in 1964, Jeinu Duipang at MDU in 1966, Lengsonnei at MDU in 1968, Shun at MDU in 1971, Tingil Pong at MDU in 1972, Kashok Pong at MDU in 1976 which won the President Award of the Sangh in the 14th All India Multilingual Short Play Competition held at Allahabad by the Natya Sangh, Shunila at MDU in 1978, Ganphu Tao at MDU in 1980, Delhi Challo at MDU in 1981 .
In 1982 Delhi Challo featured in the 15th All India Multilingual Short Play Competition held at Allahabad and won the President Award of Sangh again, Dolly at MDU in 1984, Haipou Jadonang at GM Hall, Imphal in 1993.Later he wrote Rani Gaidinliu in 1999, Gairemnang in 2000 and Neipongnei in 2005 .
Poujairung Thaimei is 70 but he is still energetic and continues to write.
Nongallamdaigi Amamba is a story written by him in Manipuri and this story is included in the book titled 'Araiba Manipur Sahitya' of BSEM and the story is included in the current syllabus of Class IX.
In his stories like Ningol, Eesugi Naohongphi published in the monthly journal 'Fidampham' he tries to bring peace and harmony in the state.
In these stories he tries to highlight the love and peaceful relationship which once prevailed between hilly people and valley people.
Stories like Ningthi Nganba Pamheiba and San-gi Khongul were published in Athouba, a monthly journal.
Currently, he is looking for an opportunity to publish 'Jirigi Leihao' .
This multitalented artiste arranges the tunes of all his songs.
Many of his paintings are based on Kabui's mythology.
Some of his paintings are Kabui Salang Maibana Khamba Khamnu Puba, Purembana Henbibu Salang Maibagidamak Peenaba Lepta, Haipou Raguang Chun, Rani Gaidinliu, Haipou Jadonang.
Poujairung Thaimei resides at Keishamthong Kabui Khul with his wife Luganglu alias Eseihanbi, five sons, one daughter, five daughters-in-law and 10 grand children.
Poujairung is one of three eminent personalities in Art disciplines from each Member state gor the governing body under clause 4 (X) of the NEZCC, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Dimapur, Nagaland.
He was conferred 'Distinguished Award' in Literature by ZSU-AMN at its 10th General Conference held at Ragairong, Imphal on the 16th of February 1987.He was also awarded the Manipur State Kala Akademi for Ruangmei Literature for the year
1997-1998 .
He was also awarded Nongpok Ningthou Award 2010 by Panthoibi Cultural Research Centre for performing Arts, Paona Keithel, Imphal.
Poujairung Thaimei loves his motherland Manipur very much and says we should maintain peace and harmony in the state.
We all should fight for the cause of our motherland.
He needs to be recognized and encouraged.
