Imphal, May 21 2012: Before the protest rally, people of different communities staged sit-in-protest at Kanglatongbi Keithel since early morning in protest against the murder of Pushpa Basnet.

A similar protest demonstration was staged at Motbung under the aegis of Gurkha Welfare Youth Club.

42 Assam Rifles under 26 Sector organised Gala Cultural Dance Fiesta Chandel 2012 at Sangai auditorium of the Sector headquarters today.

Tengnoupal A/C MLA DK Korungthang, 26 Sector Commander Brig Upendra Dwivedi and his better half Sunita Dwivedi attended the programme.

Competition on cultural items presented by troupes of different communities Tamil, Thadou Kuki, Anal, Zou, Tarao, Aimol and Maring was the main attraction of today's programme.

Shimlam dance of Moreh Manipuri Dance Group adjudged first position.

Anal dance of Charangching Akadam Vappunna, bamboo dance of Samtal-Sehlon Region, pupalam dance of Thadou Kuki Cultural Dance Troupe got second, third and fourth prizes respectively.

MLA DK Karungthang, Brig Upendra Dwivedi and Sunita Dwivedi gave away prizes to the prize winner groups.

Consolation prizes were also given to every participating troupes.
