Imphal, March 21 2016:
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba has categorically stated that he is still the party's State unit president and there is no question of electing a new president as of now.
Addressing party workers here after returning from the BJP National executive meeting which was held at Delhi on March 19 and 20, Chaoba said that the National executive meeting retained him as BJP Manipur Pradesh president while party presidents of different State units were elected at the two-day summit.
He then ruled out the possibility of electing a new party president for the State in the near future.
If there was a possibility of such a change of guard, the name of the new president would have been declared during the executive meeting.
Speaking at the executive meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also president, BJP president Amit Shah introduced all the people who have been elected BJP presidents of different States.
He then instructed all BJP State units to convene executive meetings of their respective States within March, Chaoba conveyed.
As directed by the National president, the first State executive meeting of the new term would be held on March 31 at MFDC Hall.
The union budget was the main agenda of the National executive meeting.
Majority of the party leaders opined that the budget favours poor and underprivileged sections including farmers, women and children.
There has been no case of corruption charges against any Minister and bureaucrat since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country 22 months back, Chaoba continued.
He asserted that only BJP has the capacity to topple the ruling Congress Government in Manipur.
For this, there is the need of a leader who can take on and defeat Congress party.
Chaoba then compared the State budget tabled at the Manipur Legislative Assembly as the Chief Minister's 'family budget' .
He went on to compare Chief Minister O Ibobi with the Mahabharata epic's main villain Duryjodhana.
Meanwhile BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar has ridiculed the voice of dissidence raised by some Congress MLAs.
The issue of dissidence rocked the Congress boat many times earlier but all these upheavals only strengthened the positions of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister.
The banner of revolt raised recently is nothing sort of seeking charity which is generally seen during Yaoshang festival, said Ashnikumar.
People cannot help laugh at what the dissident Congress MLAs have been doing, he added.
