Imphal, August 20 2018:
Government spokesman and IPR Minister Th Biswajit has accused the Opposition Congress party of launching a sustained offensive against the BJP-led Government by stoking the issue of Framework Agreement with a view to the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Speaking to media persons at his Sanjenthong quarters today, Biswajit pointed out that a report tabled in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs led by veteran Congress parliamentarian P Chidambaram based on the briefing of interlocutor RN Ravi clearly laid down that all stake holders including State Governments and CSOs would be consulted before hammering out a solution to the GoI-NSCN (IM) political dialogue.
Apart from making all kinds of charges against the Government in connection with the Framework Agreement, Congress went to the extent of charging that BJP has been working to unleash total turmoil in the State, decried the Government spokesman.
He then appealed to the Congress party not to do or say anything which may panic the masses and create discord among different communities.
Asking Congress party if the Parliamentary Standing Committee's report says anything concrete about extending Article 371A to Manipur, Biswajit remarked that everyone has seen and read the committee's report.
The Government was saying that an Assembly session would be convened if necessary.
It never said that Assembly session would be convened when demanded by Congress party, Biswajit asserted.
The issue of Framework Agreement has been discussed repeatedly in the State Assembly.
Why the proposed Assembly session was postponed indefinitely has been already explained through media, said the IPR Minister and asked if there is any urgency to hold a House session at the moment.
He then appealed to Congress party to stop confusing the masses with volumes of propaganda with a view to the Lok Sabha election.
The BJP-led Government is a people's Government and it is listening to the*people's voice.
The Government will do nothing which will bring misery to the people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh have assured repeatedly that the territorial integrity of Manipur would not be disturbed.
If the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister are not trustworthy, who is trustworthy to Congress party, asked the Government spokesman.
Making false allegations against the Government's Go to Mission campaign without understanding its theme/idea would not yield any positive result.
Congress party should not be jealous of the mass support enjoyed by the Government, he said.
The Government has been promoting the hill-valley fraternity by going together with its coalition partner NPF, he added.
