BJP VP clarifies

BJP Manipur State Unit vice president M Ashnikumar has clarified that neither he nor the party have any link whatsoever with the Thanga rape case of February 13 .
Speaking to media persons at BJP State Unit office today, M Ashnikumar expressed disappointment at involving him and the party in the rape case and explained that not long after the incident occurred, police arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
After around one and a half month, it was reported that two other individuals were also involved in the crime as well.
Admitting that one of the said individuals was in fact a relative, the BJP vice president clarified that he has no relation whatsoever with the said accused in connection with the case and claimed that neither him nor the BJP party have interfered in the case.
The BJP party does not support anyone accused of committing rape, Ashnikumar said and urged all those concerned not to involve him nor the party in the case and not to level any unfounded charges in the future.
He also conveyed that the BJP and he himself will support the notion of awarding proper justice to people accused of committing such heinous crimes.
