Awareness camp for handloom weavers held

A two day long awareness camp on the comprehensive package and the welfare package of handloom weavers has been kick started at the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong today.
Organised under the aegis of the Project Manager, District Handloom and Textiles, Imphal West, various Handloom and hand weavers from different parts of Imphal West district have participated in the programme.
Speaking at the inaugural function, T Ranjen Singh, Gen Manager, DIC Imphal West and the chief guest of the function said that the newly launched comprehensive and welfare packages would help the weavers of the region with 10 percent sponsorship by the State Government and remaining by the Central Government.

He maintained that the new packages aim to promote the handloom products by escalating quality production and sales in other parts of the world.
M Rajen Singh, Project Manager of District Handlooms and Textiles appealed the weavers of Imphal West to attend the full sessions of the programme and also to produce quality based handloom and hand weaving products of the State.
Kommu Ravindra, Asst Director of Weavers Service Centre Imphal and PK Behera, Manager NABARD, Manipur regional office also attended the inaugural function as guests of honour.
