Imphal, January 20 2020:
The proscribed UNLF has categorically stated that it has taken serious note of the statement made by Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan at a public function held at Khangabok yesterday.
Dr Ranjan's statement not only challenged the oppressed masses but also ridiculed the revolutionary groups which have been fighting for freedom of the masses by sacrificing their own lives, remarked the outfit in a statement issued by its department of publicity director M Sakhen.
Such arrogant and malicious statement is unforgivable, it asserted.
His statement only exposed that RK Ranjan is a man who does not know his identity, the history of the land and who shares little thought for his community and values only the blessings and goodwill of his 'Delhi masters', it alleged.
It is a continuous policy of the Government of India to assimilate all minority communities into the vast majority of Hindi-speaking mainland Indians.
"It was this National responsibility to save ourselves from the diabolic and repressive policy of the Government of India which gave birth to the liberation movement", the UNLF asserted.
Indian leaders have already accepted that the Manipur-India conflict is a political conflict and it has also been understood that the civil movements being spearheaded by the civil society organisations are also linked to this political conflict either directly or indirectly, it said.
The way MP Ranjan ridiculed and spoke with contempt about all these movements should not be taken lightly with an eye to earn goodwill of New Delhi.
If MP Ranjan is feigning ignorance of the fact that people have been enduring extreme misery as a result of the 'forced merger' of Manipur into the Indian Union, UNLF would take up necessary measures to wake him to the reality, it said.
Many people have been killed in several civil protest movements which were all aimed at securing the future of Manipur.
But the successive State Governments always stood in favour of the Government oflndia instead of extending any kind of sympathy to the suffering people, it continued.
All the people ought to condemn RK Ranjan's statement which projected the sustained people's movements raging across WESEA to save the indigenous people as handiwork of some disobedient and immature youth, the outfit asserted.
The outfit added that it would not remain silent if Dr Ranjan chooses to oppose the people and challenge the revolutionary groups of the land just to win blessings and goodwill of New Delhi.
