Imphal, September 19 2015 : A two-day orientation training programme on 'Management and Development of Public Libraries in Manipur' was held today at Manipur Press Club under the sponsorship of the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The training programme is being organised by the Manipur Library Association (MALA).

MLA of Langthabal A/C K Shyam attended the function as the chief guest and president of MALA K Chaoba was the functional president and chief librarian of State Central Library E Latakishore was the guest of honour.

As part of the function, a newsletter of MALA was released by the dignitaries.

Conveying the importance of library, the chief guest stated that in this very competitive world one must have that keen interest to read books and explore the vast knowledge stored in libraries.

He added that the State Government should put more efforts to introduce more public libraries in the State and also urged the people especially the student community to cultivate the habit of reading books in libraries.
