ILPS movement: No let-up in protest

As part of the ongoing ILPS demand movement, demonstrations were held today at different places in Imphal.
Tarung Women's Society staged a protest at Tarung, Imphal West demanding ILPS in the State.
About 300 women of the locality took part in the sit-in, which was held from 10 am till 4pm.The protesters strongly denounced the alleged delay in drafting of a Bill for the protection of indigenous people.
They pledged to support and join any movement to demand ILPS.
At Mekola, large number of womenfolk formed human chain along Tiddim road.
The protesters also burned the effigy of CM O Ibobi.
They later staged a sit-in at Mekola keithel.
The demonstration was organised jointly by Mekola Youth Association and Mekola Apunba Meira Paibi Nupi Lup.

Sit-ins were also organised by YSMC Club, Lairenjam Awang; Beneficiary Club, Meitram; Meitram Awang Meira Paibi Lup; Meira Paibi, Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai and SCK Kodompokpi.
Trainees of Khuman Lampak Sports complex held a silent rally and staged a sit-in today at Khuman Lampak demanding ILPS and punishment against police personnel who committed excess against student protesters.
The trainees held a rally along Dingku Road, BOC and MMTA complex.
Besides holding a torch rally, the Apunba Langthabal Lep, Langthabal Mantrikhong, Langthabal Chingthak-Chingkha (Kabui) and Phuramakhong Nambul Mapal ILPS Demand Committee has submitted a memorandum to RK Anand, MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC on Aug 18 .
MLA RK Anand is a member of the Drafting Committee of a Bill for the protection of indigenous people of the State.
Large number of womenfolk of Langthabal area took part in the torch rally, according to a statement.
To pass the ILPS Bill within August 25, expedite drafting of the ILPS Bill, completion of judicial enquiry into the killing of Robinhood at the earliest and to punish security personnel involved in the killing within Aug 31 are the demands raised in the representation.
