Cabinet approves monetary aid for Chassad victims

Imphal, March 19 2020: The State Cabinet has decided to extend monetary aid to the victims of the violence and arson that took place at Chassad, Kamjong district on Monday.

A Cabinet meeting held in the Chief Minister's office this afternoon deliberated on the Chassad violence.

The Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister N Biren decided to extend monetary assistance of Rs three lakh each to the victims whose houses have been completely destroyed and Rs one lakh each to those whose houses have been partially damaged.

The compensation would be distributed in phases and 50 per cent would be delivered at the earliest as decided, informed a source.

Following a land dispute, around 150 houses of Chassad were set ablaze by Sampui villagers.
