Chandel, December 18 2015 :
Anal civil society organisations continue to protest the failure on the part of the State Cabinet to revoke its decision to amalgamate four Chandel villages to the proposed Sugnu SDC circle.
Representatives of ANTA, ACA, ALT and ASR today staged a sit-in-protest at DC Lamkhai, Chandel demanding revocation of the State Cabinet's decision as well as rectification of concept paper on anti erosion and flood control scheme submitted by IFCD, our correspondent reports.
Sugnu PHC, Sugnu Police station, Sugnu IB and Pallel Police station which were under Chandel district administration before, have now been included under Thoubal district and the recent State Cabinet's decision on November 30 proposing four villages of Chandel namely Toupokpi, Mahao Tera, Tonsen and Lokhijang, all paying Hill House Taxes to the Government, to be amalgamated to Sugnu SDC circle are all policies of the State Government to suppress the Tribal of Chandel district, the CSOs have alleged.
The Anal CSOs, in a joint statement, said it would intensify its agitation if the Cabinet's decision is not revoked at the earliest.
The CSOs have further petitioned the EE of Irrigation and Minor Department to provide detailed information about schemes and projects implemented in the district in the last five years under RTI Act.
