One-day legal awareness cum literacy prog held

Thoubal, September 18 2015 : District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal and All Backward Classes & Economic Development Organisation (ABCEDO) jointly conducted a one-day legal awareness cum literacy programme on Thursday at the office complex of ABCEDO Observation Home, Samaram, Thoubal district, our correspondent reports.

District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority Thoubal, Salam Imocha Singh attended the programme as chief guest while member of Zilla Parishad Wangjing- Tentha ZP, L Inaocha Singh and CJM,Thoubal and secretary of District Legal Service Authority Kimneinieng Shoute were the president and guest of honour respectively.

L Inaocha, during his speech, said that considering the present unrest, organizing legal awareness programmes is necessary for everyone as people are apparently confused about the current law and order situation in the State.

People seem to have forgotten the existence of law, Inaocha stated.

He further observed that one should never take the law into one's hand.

Resource persons Advocate Kh Arunjoy Singh spoke on the topic 'Crimes Against Women', Advocate Md Zakir Hussain on 'Juvenile Justice Act-2000' while advocate A Gopendro Sharma spoke on the topic 'Mob Justice' during the programme.
