UNC condoles demise of its former President

Imphal, March 17 2012: UNC has expressed condolence over the demise of its former President L Benjamin of Chandel Christian village on the evening of March 16 at Imphal.

In a statement, UNC recalled that Benjamin gave his service to the Nagas in Manipur as President UNC during the period from September 20, 2002 to October 17, 2004 .

He was an efficient facilitator who created spaces for peaceful negotiation and resolution of issues.

Even after his office in the UNC, he continued to be a source of guidance and support to the Naga people in general and to the people of Chandel in particular.

His departure will leave a vacuum which will be difficult to fill up for a very long time.
