National Tribal Festival-2020 kick starts at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, January 16 2020: Aadi Natay Samagam ( National Tribal Festival -2020) kicked off today at TNL ground, Wino Bazar, Ukhrul.

SDO/BDO, Ukhrul Charchit Gaur inaugurated the festival in the presence of TNL president Hopingson and other dignitaries.

The festival was organised by Natural & Cultural Heritage Conservation Initiative (NCHCI), Ukhrul with an objective to preserve the cultural heritage of tribal populace through documentation of folk music, tales, dances, festival and traditional methods of conflict resolution.

The festival began with a traditional chanting "Hokharai Haola" by Hunphun Khanuithot Cultural Research Forum, Manipur while Tangkhul folk musician Guru Reuben Mashangva enthralled the gathering with his number " Chongkhom Philava" .

Troupes from Odisha, Assam, Zou and Khamasom also performed their folk dances and songs during the entertainment session.

It is reported that myriad of cultural shows would be displayed during the festival.

The festival was sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama.
