URF joins general strike call

Imphal, October 15 2013: Backing general strike and suspension of economic activities calls given by different insurgent groups to protest forcible merger of then independent Manipur into the Indian Union, the armed United Revolutionary Front (URF) affirmed that october 15 will only renew and strengthen resolve of revolutionary organisations to sustain the armed movement.

With calls for ceasing economic activities on october 15 in the past evoking positive from the masses testifying that the people have been aspiring to live as free citizens, URF too is committed to fulfilling the people's desire of gaining independence, said a statement issued by the Front's Information and Publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei.

Apart from toiling under the British colonial rulers for nearly six decades the people continue to live a wretched life for over 60 years after annexation into the Indian union, noted Sanajaoba who also opined that time has come for one and all to realise impact of such continuous subjugation.
