DMU students erupt in protest

Imphal, July 15 2024: Demanding the authorities of the Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) to make special arrangement for students who have cleared the Common University Entrance Test, 2024 and ensure their admission in PG courses in other universities, UG students of the varsity protested in front of the Administrative Block today.

Notably, the 6th Semester Examination of DMU is yet to be conducted when the admission process in most universities has already begun after the declaration of the CUET, 2024 results.

The students who participated in the protest burnt benches and desks in front of the Administrative Block at around 3.30 pm and shouted slogans to save their career.

Later, a team of Manipur Police arrived at the scene and a brief scuffle broke out.

Speaking to media on the sideline of the protest, a student decried that the 6th Semester UG students are on the verge of losing their career as the university has failed to conduct the semester examination in time.

He asserted that the students who have cleared the CUET 2024 are unable to seek admission for PG courses in other universities.

Denouncing that the DMU has been completely paralysed due to the lack of a regular VC, Registrar and other staff, the student continued that the varsity has never conducted semester examinations in time since it was upgraded to University status.

He demanded the authorities of the university to communicate with the other universities and ensure the students' admission in PG courses.
