Applications invited for CoNE Media Fellowship-2020

Imphal, January 15 2020: Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) has invited media professionals of the State of Manipur to participate in its media fellowship programme, that aims to strengthen media advocacy on issues of viral hepatitis through human rights lens.

A press release issued by CoNE president Nalinikanta RK stated that the main aim of the fellowship is to create mass awareness among the public on issues surrounding viral hepatitis by creating opportunities for State journalists to research and report stories about the scenario of viral hepatitis in the State with special focus on Hepatitis C, its myths and misconceptions, Government's sensitivity towards the issue, stigma and discrimination associated with it and access to essential medicines as a public health concern.

The duration of the fellowship is from January 2020 to December 2020, it said and added that during this period, journalists will have an option to produce news articles, features or audio-video content/documentary that highlights issues surrounding viral hepatitis.

The pieces can be long features, advocacy-focused, data driven or documentary style and human-angle stories as well.

Fellows will be required to publish/broadcast two (2) stories monthly focusing on any of the designated themes.

The selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 6000 and stipends will be released only after the articles/video documentaries are published in the respective dailies/media outlets.

It informed that applicants should submit an expression of interest along with documents like cover letter, CV, Two work samples on health issues, a letter of endorsement from media organisation or a letter of endorsement from an editor if a freelance journalist and a letter from editor assuring news stories will be published/broadcasted.

Application forms should be submitted to the president, Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE), Keishamthong Hodam Leirak, Sega Road, Imphal West - 795 001 (From 10 am to 4 pm) by January 18, 2020 .

It stated that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
