Imphal, November 14 2013:
Namthalong Kabui village (Muji Khun) has urged the locals of neighbouring Thangmeiband Lairen Hanjabam Leikai not to vent their ire to the village regarding the death of a 24-year-old youth of the latter.
It is said that some locals of Thangmeiband Lairen Hanjabam Leikai not only broke the window panes of Namthalong village community hall but also threw stones at some houses of the village soon after the news of death of Wahengbam Thembung spread at his locality at around 7.30 pm yesterday.
It may be mentioned that Thembung succumbed to his injuries after some persons beat him up severely at Ragailong Khunjin yesterday.
Former secretary of Namthalong Women Society, Lemei Ashimlu said that like the people of Lairen Hanjabam Leikai, people of her village are also pained with the lost of Thembung.
However, it is not right to vent ire to Namthalong village for the sin done by the people of another locality.
She however said that although some youths threw stones at the community hall and houses, some women advised them not to attack Namthalong village.
She also urged the mothers and right thinking individuals of Lairen Hanjabam Leikai to control anger of the youths and advise them to act rightly in future as well.
She said that womenfolk guarded the village till early morning after the incident.
