As the Nation celebrates 75 years of Independence from British colonial rale in 1947, Governor Ganga Prasad led in wishing the people of the State for Independence Day.
In a message issued today, the Governor said India attained freedom from the British on August 15, 1947 and ever since, the people of the country have been celebrating this historic achievement every year.
Freedom was achieved from the colonial power after a long straggle and innumerable sacrifices, he added.
The Governor also paid tributes to all the freedom fighters.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also extended wishes for 75th Independence Day in a message issued today and said the hard earned freedom was a result of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
He appealed to everyone to renew the pledge to uphold and promote the spirit of Nationhood, unity, integrity of the Nation and commit to fulfil the vision of the great leaders who dreamt of an Independent, Sovereign, Secular, Democratic and Republic India.
Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh also wished the people on the eve of Independence Day and also paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee also extended wishes for Independence Day.
