Chief Minister Okram Ibobi inspected different construction works being undertaken in the State capital today.
Accompanied by Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, the Chief Minister assessed the work progresses of Sanjenthong bridge and Assembly Secretariat complex at Chingmeirong before he reviewed the road expansion works on Tiddim Road from Keishampat junction to Malom.
It may be mentioned that with completion of eviction of houses and shops on both sides of the road, construction of drains has already been started at Malom from yesterday.
According to an official source, Tiddim road would be widened 19 metres on both sides from the road median.
The source added that according to the bylaw of the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC), roads and shops must be constructed leaving a space of 10 ft from the Government acquired area.
However, many people do not abide by this rule, the source added.
Saying that the respective land owners must acquire prior approval from IMC if he/she has to construct a house/shop, the source said that all the land owners must follow the guidelines of the Council to avoid damage at the time of experiencing earthquake.
