Road Safety Month observed at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, January 14 2025:
The Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla today launched the 36th National Road Safety Month at Mini Secretariat office campus in the presence of SDO Duna Dou, Roland Keishing, CMO Dr Kapangring, DTO H Ninganung and other District Level officers.
The national road safety month was jointly organised by the District Administration, Ukhrul Police and District Transport Office, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC Ukhrul stated the road safety month is observed across the nation to create awareness on traffic rules and regulation in order to reduce road accidents.
Dwelling on the utmost importance of traffic obeying rules and discipline to ensure safety of all, she stated that the month long road safety awareness is to educate drivers on road safety and ways to prevent road accidents from happening.
Urging all the concerned stakeholders, be it officers, NGOs, individuals, policemen including the traffic law enforcers to adhere to the traffic rules & regulations that were laid down by the Government to be followed while driving vehicles.
Meanwhile DTO Ukhrul, H Ninganung stated that the Ukhrul traffic enforcement team will now strictly enforce the traffic regulations in Ukhrul town.
Traffic violators will be dealt with as per the traffic regulations to ensure road safety, said Ninganung.
The DTO, Ukhrul administered the Road Safety pledge 2025, which will end on January 31 in Ukhrul.
Later, the DC Zuringla flagged off the traffic awareness rally to spread the awareness on traffic disciplines that has to be abided by all drivers by issuing pamphlets of 'Do & Don't' and the penalties/fine levied by the Transport department of Manipur.
And as a part of the awareness programme, the DC Ukhrul pasted reflective fluorescent tape to the commercial vehicle plying in the town that is easily visible for the drivers during the night time that will reduce road accidents.
