Imphal, July 13 2021:
The North East Students' Organisation (NESO) has sought the attention of Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the inter State boundary dispute involving Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
In a letter written to the Home Minister, NESO said the boundary dispute between the States has been lingering on for too long with no permanent solution between the States.
With the State leaders engaged in making temporary agreements, conflicts and tensions have cropped up from time to time which has caused immense hardship and suffering to the people residing in and around the disputed border areas, added the letter.
The prolonged dispute between the States have caused loss of lives and with no permanent solution in sight, intervention from the Home Ministry for a permanent solution is of paramount importance, added the letter.
NESO also alleged that the State Governments have failed to honour the agreements made amongst themselves and appealed all the States to honour the status quo and withdraw from their recent encroachments till normalcy or a mutual amicable agreement is arrived at between the disputed parties.
