Imphal, December 12 2016: The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the Assistant Registration Officer (ARO) of Wangjing-Tentha AC have been suspended for not complying with an instruction of the Election Commission of India.

Acting on complaints received from different quarters, the ECI instructed the ERO and the ARO to take up certain actions but they failed to comply with the instruction.

Subsequently ERO N Surjit and ARO AK Lalmohan have been suspended from service, informed a well placed source.

The Chief Electoral Officer issued an order to this effect today.

Meanwhile, the CEO has also instructed authorities concerned to take up necessary action against the ERO of Saitu AC and ARO of Chingai AC for negligence of duties allotted to them by respective District Election Officers.

Show cause notices have also been served to some DEOs.
