DG Assam Rifles inaugurates mega medical camp, visits Sainik School Imphal

Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Director General Assam Rifles on Friday inaugurated a mega medical camp at Mantripukhri.
The camp was organised under the theme "We Connect, We Care" by IGAR (South) for the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and local populace, said a statement of IGAR(S).
It was attended by Major General Alok Naresh, IG Assam Rifles; Dr L Indira, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East district and other officials of the Assam Rifles.
Speaking on the occasion, DG Assam Rifles said that "Friends of the North East people" has been a motto of the Assam Rifles and added that it would remain adhering to the same motto in the years to come.
Highlighting the various activities carried out by AR for the betterment of the NE region, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandan Nair said, "All the deserving people may not be able to reap the benefits of the welfare initiatives being taken up in the State.
However, the Assam Rifles will continue to extend help in the future".
The DG also exhorted all the stakeholders to render maximum support to the veterans and locals especially in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic while urging all to co-operate with the medical fraternity and the Government in quelling the pandemic.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Major General Alok Naresh and the team of IGAR (South) for conducting such a mega medical camp at this crucial juncture.
The DG further thanked the State Health Department, Civil Administration and media persons of the State for their cooperation in making the event a grand success.
It may be mentioned that the medical camp was conducted following COVID-19 protocols.
Over 3000 people attended the camp including veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents along with locals from various remote villages.
During the camp, a team of medical specialists from premier hospitals in Delhi as well as from Assam Rifles and RIMS, Imphal provided specialized medical treatment to the participants.
Medical equipment including hearing aids, walkers, wheelchairs and stretchers were also distributed.
Moreover, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair also visited Sainik School Imphal and interacted with the cadets at Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL).
On his visit, the DG also interacted with the staff and expressed his appreciation for the large number of entry of cadets into NDA in the last couple of years while assuring all possible assistance to the school particularly in the field of sports infrastructure.
Principal of the school, Gp Capt Rajneesh Kumar also gave the DG a brief overview of the school and challenges faced by the school.
He further extended his gratitude to the DG for the assistance provided to the school.
