Thoubal, October 12 2024:
Despite consistent efforts of Pangal Students Organisation and other student organisations of the State to transform the education sector, no significant changes have been witnessed due to the lacksidal attitude of the State Government and the Education Department and their failure to perform their assigned duties, said Farid Bogimayum, president, PSO Manipur.
He made the remark during the 16th foundation day of PSO Manipur observed today at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa, Commemorating the completion of sixteen years since its formation.
The ceremony was graced by Wangkhem Rameshor Singh, Principal, Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa; Ph Nando Luwang, President, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO); Hijam Roshan, President, Manipur Students Federation (MSF) Manipur; Farid Bogimayum.
President, PSO Manipur; Ym Hayatur Rahaman, Working President, All Meitei Pangal Clubs Organization (AMPACO); SR Khan, Chairman, NEFSA Education Consultancy and PSO Manipur advisors Ajijur Pukhrimayum and Bm Zeeshan.
Addressing the gathering, Farid Bogimayum highlighted some of the key issues that are proving to be detrimental to the development of Government schools.
He said that willfully granting recognition and approving registration of private schools which are located in close vicinity to Government schools has spelled decline for the latter.
Additionally, Government schools face widespread issues of shortage of teachers."But there is nothing done to insinuate that the State Government and the Education Department are working to resolve this problem, he claimed.
Not only is this detrimental to the education sector but it will prove to be detrimental to the upcoming younger generation as well, he cautioned.
Addressing the Covid-19 pandemic which engulfed the world a few years ago, Farid Bogimayum remarked that students were deprived of receiving proper education for two years.
Following this, the conflict which erupted on May 3, 2023 has inflicted untold damages to the academic career of students.
Thus, he appealed to the public of Manipur to adopt a united front to bring Manipur on the path to development.
