The Deputy Commissioner Kakching in a press note clarified regarding the report which appeared in the local dailies of February 12, 2024 that no funds have been released under the scheme "Permanent Housing Scheme for the Displaced Persons whose houses had been burned down and damaged in the District during the recent violence in the State for Sugnu and Serou areas as alleged by the local MLA.
The Kakching DC, Somorjit Salam, IAS clarified that twelve families were selected for immediate release of the scheme money from the State Emergency Fund, upon verification and sanctioned on November 11, 2023 .
The families concerned were requested to submit the bank account details immediately for transfer of funds.
However, even after repeated reminders, the account details of all beneficiaries have not been submitted to the office and the Sub-Divisional Officer, Waikhong had to personally pursue the beneficiaries for collection of account details, said the clarification note by the Deputy Commissioner Kakching.
As on date, account details of ten beneficiary families have been submitted and scheme money has been transferred to their respective accounts.
Two families who have not submitted the bank accounts are yet to be transferred the scheme funds.
All families whose houses have been destroyed/burnt are being verified and funds will be transferred subsequently, added the note by the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching.
