Imphal, February 12 2016 :
Close on the heels of the Khousabung Subdivision Demand Committee (KSDDC) submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding review of the Cabinet decision pertaining to renaming of Thangting as Kangvai subdivision, the committee today submitted a representation to the Governor of the State seeking his intervention into the matter.
The KSDDC in the memo to the Governor said that the Cabinet decision was 'biased' and against democratic principles.
It said that majority's wish to rename the subdivision as 'Khousabung subdivision' was overlooked.
As such, it urged the Governor to intervene on the matter and prevail upon the State Govt to review its decision.
Meanwhile, protest against the decision to rename the subdivision as Kangvai continued at Khousabung village today.

A candle light vigil was held at the Khousabung village market shed tonight.
The protesters demanded that the subdivision be renamed as 'Khousabung subdivision' for the sake of justice.
"We do not harbour any misgiving or grudge against any individuals or community, but we are fighting to find justice," S Gouneu, secretary of KSDDC said.
"We will continue the agitation until our grievances are redressed," he said.
If the Govt fails to turn a deaf ear to the genuine demand of reviewing the Cabinet decision within one week, intense forms of protest will be launched, Gouneu warned.
