Charge consideration of Airport drug case on Apr 21

Imphal, April 11 2017:
In continuation of the trial of the Tulihal Airport drug seizure case, all the accused in the case appeared before the Special Court, Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (ND & PS) Lamphelpat today.
All the accused including MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency, O Henry against whom CBI Special Branch Kolkata filed a charge sheet in April last year are Sapam Angus @ Naoba @ Nanao, Md Rajauddin and two non-local pharmacy proprietors Ramveer Tyagi and Rajneesh Kumar from Ghaziabad.
Another accused in the case L Tarpon of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai originally from Thoubal Athokpam, who was summoned by the Court on March 10 last to make a physical appearance today has been released on bail on furnishing a PR bond of Rs 2 lakh along with two sureties.
However, he has been included as one of the accused for charge consideration of the case filed by CBI Special Branch Kolkata to be held on April 21 .
Earlier, counsel of one of the accused submitted before the Court that as per the charge sheet submitted by CBI Special Branch Kolkata, Tarpon who allegedly made a call to the Inspector of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in connection with the seizure of the huge consignment of drugs at Tulihal Airport was not counted as an accused but O Henry was indicted as one of the accused on the charges that he telephoned the police regarding the incident.
It may be mentioned that CBI Special Branch Kolkata filed a charge sheet against O Henry and other accused on April 18 last year bearing number 6 of 2016 by DSP of CBI BB Chakarvarty for the offence punishable under Section 21, 25 (A), 29, 32 of ND & PS Act under Section 120 (B), 420, 468, 471 and 506 of IPC.
On January 11 of 2013, a team of SIU led by Inspector K Ranjit seized a huge consignment of drugs from Imphal Tulihal Airport.
After the incident, the unit was disbanded by an order of the Government of that time.
