Historic milestone : Monolith unveiled to mark 100 years of Christianity

Chandel, February 11 2025: Rev Samaresh Nayak, general secretary of National Council of Baptist Churches of India (NCBCI) today unveiled a monolith in connection with the celebration of 100 years of Christianity by the Monsang Community under the theme "Celebrating God's Faithfulness" at Mission Centre, Khoriibung, Japhou.

The event was organised by the Monsang Naga Baptist Churches Association (MNBCA) commemorating the 100 years of Christianity in Monsang Community.

The event began with an opening prayer by Rev Th Rockson.

Later a centenary worship service was held in which Aimol Baptist Association (ABA) enthralled the gathering with hymns as choir while Liwa Changning Baptist Church, Japhou Baptist Church and Monsang Baptist Fellowship Imphal added enchantment to the celebration with their special songs.

Representatives of various associations from Chandel and Tengnoupal district were also present during the event and were felicitated with special gifts.

Speaking at the event, Shongsir Dilbert stated that the celebration was observed to commemorate the 100 years of Christianity in the Monshang community counting from the day when 5 persons from the Monsang community baptised on February 11, 1925 at Chakpikarong.
