Imphal, August 10 2018:
Congress MLA K Ranjit has stated that NSCN-IM and BJP are the two sides of the same coin.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, Ranjit said that NSCN-IM has been persistently conspiring to disintegrate Manipur.
From sovereignty, they have scaled down their demand to Naga integration within the Constitution of India.
The BJP led Government has been openly supporting NSCN-IM as testified by the recent proposal to extend Article 371A to Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
On the other hand, NPF which has been working as a political wing of NSCN-IM is a partner of the coalition Government led by BJP in Imphal.
As such, it would not be any exaggeration to say that BJP and NSCN-IM are two sides of the same coin, Ranjit asserted.
The primary goal of NPF as stated in their constitution and manifesto is integration of Naga inhabited areas.
A memorandum submitted to Chief Minister N Biren when he visited Ukhrul on April 11, 20] 7 along with many Cabinet Ministers and MLAs sought the Chief Minister's cooperation in expediting the political dialogue between Gol and NSCN-IM.
What the memorandum actually sought was the Chief Minister's consent in disintegrating Manipur, the Congress MLA deduced and added that N Biren is yet to give any reply to the memorandum.
N Biren is a patriotic man.
Within three months of election as an DRPP MLA, he joined Congress in 2002 .
He was at the forefront of all civil movements undertaken by MPCC to safeguard the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary, Ranjit recalled.
Although it has not been even two years since he left Congress, he has been undermining Congress party's movements to safeguard the integrity of Manipur, he decried.
MPCC spokesman Kh Joykisan said that BJP and the BJP-led Government have been shying away from their responsibilities as testified by their inability to proclaim that Manipur will remain intact.
After Congress party's repeated appeals to extend the Assembly session held last month by at least one day to deliberate on the Framework Agreement were turned down, the Government convened a one-day session on August 10 which has now been postponed to August 16, Joykisan said.
Manipur is now passing through a very critical phase and it's time for all the political parties irrespective of whether they are in the Opposition or ruling to launch a mass movement together with CSOs and the people, he said.
The BJP-led Government has expressed strong displeasure against bandhs and blockades but they are answerable to the questions who invited bandhs and blockades, he added.
