Meeting held to challenge 'improper' election of MUA leaders

Challenging the improper election of Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA) leaders, an apex body of Maring community of Manipur, by some persons with vested interest flouting rules and regulations of the organization, a public meeting for Maring community was held to oppose the decision at Laiching Minou Community hall in Tengnoupal district.
In the meeting, a Maring Peoples Forum (MPF) having 9 members was formed to challenge the nefarious election of Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA) leaders which violates the by-law and constitution of the organization, Article 28 in particular, which saw participation from Chairmen and village authorities members of 49 Maring villages out of the total 74 Maring inhabitated villages of Manipur.
Condemning the unconstitutional election of leaders of MUA in the strongest term, the members present in the meeting also resolved not to cooperate with the newly elected leaders of MUA in any work initiated by them.
