Govt 'solid' on territorial safeguard: Gaikhangam

While appealing to the people of the state to remain serene, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the portfolio of Home, has assured that the ongoing peace talk between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM will not affect the territorial integrity of the state nor will it go against the interest of the people.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in connection with the rising apprehension of the people over the outcome of the peace talks between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India, Gaikhangam categorically stated that this is no time to panic but to come together and work keeping aside all differences for developing and making Manipur a stronger state.

"The Government of Manipur has a 'solid stand' to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state.
We are pretty sure that the Central Government will never come up with anything which is against the interest of the people of Manipur", he said adding that "to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur is not only the wish of the Congress party but of all the political parties in the state" .
Gaikhangam observed that the effort of the Central Government to come up positively in peace talk with the NSCN-IM is indeed a good move.
This will bring a lasting peace in the state of Nagaland.
