Imphal, October 08 2015: As part of its 'anti-merger agreement month' observance, Coalition for Indigenes' Rights Campaign (CIRCA), Manipur organised discussion programmes besides staging demonstration against the merger agreement at various places in Imphal East district today.

Discussion programmes on pre-merger political status of Manipur were held at Sanjenbam Khullen, Sanjenbam Khunou, Kabongput, Top Khunou and Keikol.

The programmes were held in collaboration with local clubs and meira paibis.

Pre-merger State flag of Manipur was flown at half mast at the demonstration sites, according to a statement.

It was observed during the discussion sessions that the merger agreement signed between Manipur and India is like a mere notification which is drafted in the sole interest of India.

On the basis of the merger agreement, people of the State are deprived of their rights in total contravention with international laws.
