Thoubal, September 08 2023:
The 'Public Curfew' imposed by Thoubal And Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) to protest against the failure of the Government to resolve the ongoing crisis in Manipur hampered normal life across the State.
The public curfew witnessed burning effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Union Home Minister Amit Shah; Chief Minister N Biren Singh and BJP State President Sharda at various places.
In Thoubal district, womenfolk in particular hit the streets and burnt effigies, chanted many slogans and blocked the road disrupting the passage of commuters and vehicles across the district.

Meira Paibis of Thoubal Circle gathered at Thoubal Mela ground, burnt the effigies of Central and State leaders and blocked the Highway.
Taking part in the protest, one of the Meira Paibi strongly denounced the indifference attitude of the Chief Minister towards the four-month long communal crisis creating havoc in the State.
'Such an attitude is an act of cowardice', she said.
Supporting the public curfew urging the Central and State Government to resolve the ongoing crisis, Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL) protested at Athokpam Keithel.
A Meira Paibi leader said that the effigies of the so called leaders are being burnt since they have failed to address the immense suffering of the masses affected by the communal strife.
Protest demonstration was also staged at Wangkhem Keithel by Wangkhem Youth Club and Wangkhem Meira Paibi.
The protestors expressed discontentment over the inability of the Government machineries to control the crisis and declared that the locals of Wangkhem will extend full support to all the activities of civil society organisations working sincerely to actualise the cause of Meiteis.
The public curfew was effectively carried out at Yairipok Keithel; Thoubal Okram; Thoubal Kshetrileikai; Wangjing; Thoubal Leishangthem; Samaram Lamkhai; Icham Khunou; Bengi, Charangpat and Babu Bazar.
Meanwhile, volunteers of TAKDAL along with Meira Paibis and locals of Kakching Khunou carried out protest demonstrations at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai.
Slogans of 'Long Live Manipur', 'No Separate Administration in Manipur', 'No Compromise on Manipur's integrity' and alike echoed throughout the protests.
