One killed in road accident at Wangjing
Manipur Police Commandos present at site condemned for not tending to injured

A 60 year old male cyclist was killed after he met with a serious accident at Indo-Burma Sugnu Road, Opposite Y K College at Wangjing Tentha today.
The deceased has been identified as Sanasam Samir from Lamding Cherapur.
The accident happened around 10 am when a Tata dipper coming from Khongjom side hit the victim who was returning home from Wangjing Keithel.
According to an eye witness, the victim after being hit was left unattended for a long period on the road and it was Rakesh Naorem, a social and cultural activist from Tentha who along with two others from the area, took the victim and admitted him at Thoubal District, Hospital.
Later the condition of the victim worsened and was referred to JNIMS but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Rakesh Naorem has expressed shock that despite the presence of a Manipur Police Commando Gypsy, an accident victim wasn't taken to the hospital immediately after the accident occured.
If the injured had been attended immediately by the commando team and given first aid at the hospital, precious lives of such accident victims could be saved, he said.
He further expressed his desire for the State Police force to assist such accident victims in the future and for the Government to appreciate and encourage the humanity services of people from the area who actually came to the aid of the victim and admitted him at Thoubal District Hospital.
An eye witness, Laishram Hemanta, owner of a rice hotel located close to the accident site said, the Tata dipper after hitting the victim drove off towards Salungoham.
A complaint has been filed to the on-duty police at Wangjing Keithel to arrest the driver, he added.
