Imphal, January 08 2014:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has urged the Govt to stop entertaining new armed groups into the SoO pact as the present trends are likely to encourage the formation of more and more armed groups in the days to come.
A statement issued by the information and publicity secretary of the UKLF, JM Thadou said that excepting the old ones, new armed groups who have signed SoO agreement with the govt should not be given new camp(s) but they should be located or attach with the existing umbrella organization in their respective area.
New armed groups who are formed for the purpose of SoO agreement should not be easily dragged into the SoO fold since this will create more problem than solved.
The new groups should be merged with the existing ones or should be deleted with the combine might of the Govt and the existing organisations; if not the grand scheme of the Govt is certain to collapse, the UKLF said.
The Govt should not accord equal status and treatment to the new ones and the old ones.
There should be naturally a degree of difference between the one(s) established with a definite objective & purpose and those newly formed with a purpose of something else, it said while urging the Govt not to allot new groups to the operational areas of the old ones since this will certainly disturb the peace and harmony of the area.
