NDPS Court convicts three in separate cases

Imphal, August 06 2024: Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge (NDPS) Manipur convicted 28 year old Md Abdul Kalam of Churachandpur Old Bazaar for possessing a contraband items today.

MD Abdul, convicted under Section 21(c) and 22 (b) of NDPS Act, was arrested by City police on February 22, 2015 .

In another case, the Judge convicted two persons and acquitted two others in a drug smuggling case.

The case was on against Bijit Das (47), s/o Bimal Das of Waheng Leikai Maning Leirak; Ajitkumar Das (43), s/o Rebati Das of Lakhipur, Assam; Vinod Prasad (35), s/o (L) Lakhan Dev Prasad of Checkon Awang Leikai and Manoranjan Modak (42), s/o Bangshidhar Modak of Purba Salbari Jalpaiguri, West Bengal after they were arrested along with five thousand Amphetamine tablets on May 13, 2016 .

Bijit Das and Ajitkumar Das are the two convicts while Vinod Prasad and Manoranjan Modak were acquitted today.

The quantum of punishment will be announced on August 8 .
