56,151 voters enrolled, says Chief Electoral Officer

A total of 56,151 new voters have been enrolled as per record received on November 3 by the Chief Electoral Office, Manipur, stated Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vivek Kumar Dewangan in a press conference held today at the conference hall of Secretariat (South Block), Imphal this evening.
The Chief Electoral Officer continued that as on November 3, 56,151 new voters were enrolled, 10134 voters were deceased, moved or shifted to other places, 17116 voters were accepted for correction while 1998 votes were approved for transferring their enrolment to other polling stations.
He said that the new voters will issued voter cards at the earliest and added that since there are some complaints about minors being enrolled in the Electoral list, they will be verified by birth certificates and from school records.

New technology will be utilized in the upcoming 2017 election so any complaint and grievance can be uploaded on-line.
Depending on the nature of complaints, specific time-line will be set and the complainants can track their complaints by using SAMADHAN software and call the customer care number 1950.The new method is a complaint management system.
All forms of complaint including fax, email, mail and hand written will be accepted, he added.
The CEO further appealed to all the people to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming election.
He added that clear instruction is being given by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure the officers concerned do not indulge in malpractice while enrolling new voters.
Therefore, any officer found tampering the details will be severely dealt with.
The CEO further said that ECI is organising the 1st certification programme for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) from November 17 to November 21 while assessment programme will be held from November 24 to November 27 .
The final assessment will be held in December.
The press conference was also attended by Assistant Chief Election Officer Modak Hrisheekesh Arvind and RK Dinesh Singh and other officers of the Election Department.
