NSCN (IM) negates AMSU's claim

The NSCN (IM) has denied involvement in the alleged September 3 incident and negated the accusation levelled by the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU).
"It is advised that should allegations should not be levelled against the NSCN on the ground of mere speculation and suspicion," said the NSCN (IM) in a statement, while adding, "Elements desirous of tarnishing the reputation of the NSCN and elements who want to create problems are working day and out, for which we must all be very watchful" .
The NSCN (IM) said it was compelled to issue the clarification "for the unfounded and malicious allegation levelled by the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) and All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU) with regard to the alleged assault meted out to them by some unknown miscreants who claimed to be members of the NSCN at Nungba Bazar, Tamenglong district in the evening of September 3, 2018" .
The NSCN (IM) clarified that "no officials" of the outfit were involved in the alleged harassment meted out to volunteers of the student body or leaders and artistes.
"Such an act of harassment and disturbances given to travellers in Naga territory must be condemned by all and the GPRN (NSCN-IM) with all seriousness will contain such anti-social elements with all vigor," said the NSCN (IM) .
The outfit said that artistes or students are well respected in Naga community and the "same respect and admiration are equally extended to all other people irrespective of community and borders" .
The NSCN (IM) claimed that the outfit had arrested two miscreants who were found extorting at Nungba in the name of the NSCN.
"During interrogation, they confessed to have looted around 20 trucks, raising suspicion of their involvement in the unfortunate incident at Nungba bazar.
However, interrogation is still going on," the NSCN (IM) said, while adding, "Therefore, the GPRN (NSCN-IM) had nothing to do with the incident which occurred on September 3 evening at Nungba Bazar and appeal to all for harmony" .
