Imphal, August 05 2013:
Peeved at the alleged indifferent attitude of the authority concerned in the maintenance of toilet at DM College of Commerce, irate students today ravaged the same.
Khundrakpam Rameshor, Magazine Secretary DMC Commerce observed that around 700 students are studying in the DMC Commerce and the 3 boys' toilets of the college were not serving their purposes.
He said due to lack of water in the dilapidated toilet, the stink emanating from the toilet diverted students' attention.
Considering the existence of such unattended toilets unnecessary, the students today ravaged the same, he said.
Rameshor went on to say that the Principal of the College and Education Minister have been repeatedly appealed for the maintenance of the College, however, the appeals were not heard till today.
Also, rainwater leaks through the roof of the College building and there is no water kept for drinking and toilet use.
Even if there was electricity no fans were fitted in the classroom.
The College has a girls' toilet of only two rooms, which is somehow in usable condition.
Appealing the Education Minister to redress the grievances, the students' union also warned of launching intense agitation unless the demand is met at the earliest.
