Imphal, March 05 2014 : A mega mock drill on earthquake and other natural disasters preparedness would be held simultaneously at Thoubal and Imphal on March 13 .

Speaking to reporters today at Hotel Classic, Media adviser of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Tripti Parule said that the mock drill exercise has been planned to sensitise the people for enhance preparedness and make them aware of earthquake hazards and coping mechanism.

A strong team of the National Disaster Response Force, army observers, Govt officials and a team from National Disaster Management Authority would participate in the mock drill exercise, she said.

Medical preparedness on disaster was conducted at some hospitals here a couple of months back.

Saying that the mock drill would benefit the people in the event of natural disaster, Tripti appealed to all concerned to ensure participation in the exercise.

She also urged the State Govt to set up a State Disaster Response Force.
