Manipuri writers accorded warm welcome at Agartala

Renowned Manipuri writer and scholar Prof N Tombi who was honoured with "Nilima Sinha International Award, 2019" by Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangsad and members of Leikol, Imphal were accorded warm welcome by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura in a simple function held at Dhaleswar, Agartala today.
The function began with the formal introduction of the guests to the gathering by General Secy, MSP Tripura L Birmangal.
Mentioned may be made that Prof N Tombi and members of Leikol Imphal reached Agartala yesterday after attending the 6th International Manipuri Sahitya Sanskriti meeting organized by BAMSAS.
Prof N Tombi, while speaking in the reception function, said that the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura was established in Agartala by the joint effort of RK Kamaljit, Ningthoukhongjam Chandrahas Singh, S Kulachandra, Salam Kamal Kishore among others after late Nilbir Shastri arrived and initiated the process in 1963 .
He appreciated the continued effort of the Parishad for the development of Manipuri Sahitya Sanskriti in the State due to which it has able to carve out a niche in the literary world.
Speaking at the occasion, ex-president Leikol and celebrated critic Prof Nahakpam Aruna Devi lauded the present writers and young generation for keeping the dreams of the late founders of the Sahitya Parishad alive with their quality work and contribution.
