BJP holds political conference

Imphal, October 04 2015: In connection with the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Maha Abhiyan 2015, a political conference of BJP Manipur Pradesh was held today at Ningomthong under the aegis of BJP, Imphal East district.

Lok Sabha MP and BJP North East in-charge Prahlad Singh Patel, BJP State president Th Chaoba, former MLA of Thongju A/C Thongam Bishwajit, BJP State secretaries S Premananda, L Basanta, M Ashnikumar, former presidents M Bhorot and Borobabu attended the conference as presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Prahlad Patel said that similar conferences have been held at six different districts of Manipur.

He said that he was attending the conference at Ningomthong after attending similar conferences at Khongjom and Kakching today itself.

Involvement in active politics can be viewed from two perspectives.

One is direct involvement in electoral politics without any ideology or principle and the second is joining a political party after studying its ideology thoroughly.

As for BJP, it has full conviction in electoral politics driven by ideology.

Politics is not about holding administrative power alone.

That is why BJP has been following the footsteps of Deendayal Upadhyay, Prahlad Patel said.

There is no hard and fast rule which says that only the educated or wealthy people should join electoral politics.

A politician should understand his/her party's ideology.

They should be dedicated to the cause of the people.

They should be righteous and always keep their words.

Fighting elections through the collective strength of party workers and supporters and taking over governance with people's mandate is one fundamental working principle of BJP, said the Lok Sabha MP.

Politics is not business enterprise.

It is more about selfless service for the people, he added.

He went on to assert that the forthcoming by-elections would forecast BJP's victory in the next Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
