Imphal, September 04 2024:
The Government should not remain as an entity that is only here to receive relief funds.
It should assert its authority and take decisive action against Kuki militants and the nefarious agenda to break Manipur, said Imagi Meira today.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Imagi Meira spokesperson, Thokchom Sujata said when Kuki militants have attacked people using drones, the Government has not acted as expected.
The conflict, she said, has taken a dangerous turn with the use of drones by the Kuki militants.
The Kuki militants can now drop bombs from drones in the valley.
The bombs may reach residences of MLAs, Ministers and officers.
The Kuki militants are now capable of reaching targets deep in the valley, Sujata said.
She said that the Kuki militants have been emboldened and they have expanded their plan to get their demand for a Union Territory.
The Government, she said, must decide its next steps now to stop the militants.
Sujata said, "Pretending to congregate and meet in the CM Bungalow, telling people that Delhi has been apprised of the situation, and claiming before the media that peace has returned to Manipur--these will not help solve the issues at hand.
"The State of the Government is not known, but it should know that the people are suffering and they are very angry.
The MLAs and the MPs must come together and unite within 2-3 days, and people will help them make decisions," she said.
When the 50 MLAs and two MPs come together as one, the people and all the civil society organisations naturally come together and rally behind them, Sujata said.
When all the elected Members unite as one, there will be no Opposition and no ruling.
With all civil society organisations and all the people standing behind them, such a force would be strong enough to face the Centre and compel it to do right by the State, she said.
