Clubs, vendors appeal for establishment of new SBI branch at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai

Kakching, August 04 2024: In connection with the opening of a new State Bank of India Branch at Kakching Khunou, the Kakching Khunou Lamkhai Street Vendor and Dukan Association has appealed for the same to be opened at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai as previously decided.

A press release issued by M Sashikanta, secretary, Kakching Khunou Lamkhai Street Vendor and Dukan Association has urged the relevant authorities to not be swayed by opposing views in selecting the location for the SBI branch.

It added that setting up the SBI branch will help extend banking services to not only the people of Kakching Khunou but also the nearby villages.

Additionally, clubs from the adjacent villages have expressed similar sentiments.

The clubs in question include Uyung Khunou Rural Development Organisation, South Manipur Eastern Organisation Pangaltabi, Elangkhangpokpi Popular Youth Club and Youth Star Social Club Wangjing Khunou.

According to the clubs, upon hearing about the installation of a new SBI branch at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai close to the highway, people in the adjacent villages were happy as banking facilities and services will be well within the reach of the nearby villages such as Pangaltabi, Wangjing Khunou, Waikhong, Uyung Khunou, Thongjao and Elangkhanpokpi.

However, if the new branch is constructed far from the aforementioned location, it will prove to be problematic for the villagers in travelling to and fro from their homes.

In consideration of the customers, business firms, colleges, offices etc that the bank will serve, the aforementioned local clubs have urged the concerned authority to set up the SBI Branch at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai close to the State highway.
